Minnesota’s “Stop Shooting 3’s Man”

The Minnesota Timberwolves swingman Corey Brewer is a decent defender and active scorer around the rim.  In fact he makes almost 55% of his two-point shots and scores 12 points/game.  A lot of this success is thanks to him getting out on the fast break and Ricky Rubio finding him for an open shot.

The problem is that Brewer has taken 200 three’s this year….and made 29% of them.  For comparison the “poor” shooting Rubio makes 34% of his three’s.

Of the 108 NBA players who have hoisted 200+ three’s this season Corey Brewer is one of the five worst shooters.  Only Jimmy Butler, Jared Sullinger, Josh Smith and Michael Carter-Williams have connected on a lower rate of their long range shots.

Thanks to Kevin Love, Kevin Martin and Rubio Minnesota still runs out a very good offense.  If Rick Adelman can get Brewer to focus on high percentage shots the T’Wolves scoring attack could jump to the NBA’s elite.
