The Pistons are Crashing The Boards

Despite being just an average overall team (so far) Maurice Cheeks Detroit Pistons squad is dynamite in one “factor”, offensive rebounds.  Their 20 year-old center Andre Drummond is leading the NBA in total offensive rebounds and field goal percentage (65%).  Drummond is being assisted by power forward Greg Monroe to vault Detroit to the head of the NBA class in offensive rebound percentage (they are two full percentage points ahead of the second place Chicago Bulls).

In addition to pounding the offensive glass Detroit is very good at finishing the defensive possession (9th best at defensive rebounding) and forcing turnovers (2nd best).  Their front-court of Drummond, Monroe and Josh Smith are averaging 1.6 steals and 9.5 total rebounds per game.

If Detroit can improve their shooting and shooting defense they are an easy playoff team and could even get home court advantage in the first round.
